Technical catalogue data

Figure 3.63: Technical characteristics of a luminaire in the online catalogue

Many renowned manufacturers today provide relevant technical specifications for their luminaires online. These specifications, which are subject to permanent innovation due to rapid developments in LED technology, can be kept up-to-date.

Technical figures e.g. connected load, luminous efficacy, light colour etc. are maintained here (see figure) as well as data sets for building planning and lighting-related design programs (see figure a). Common data formats and their extensions are: IES, an internationally standardised data format for luminaire luminous intensity distribution curves (see chapter "Luminous intensity distribution curves"),

IES

an internationally standardised data format for luminaire luminous intensity distribution curves (see chapter "Luminous intensity distribution curves"),

LDT ”

Eulumdat, a European data format for luminaire luminous intensity distribution curves,

T14 TM14

a British data format for luminaire luminous intensity distribution curves,

ROLF

a luminaire data format for Relux (see chapter "Photometric design software DIALux and Relux"),

ULD

a luminaire data format for DIALux (see chapter ),

RFA

a Revit luminaire data format for BIM (see chapter "BIM (Building Information Modeling)"),

3DS

geometric 3D data for 3ds Max software (formerly 3D Studio MAX),

DWG

geometric data for "AutoCAD" software.

They serve to process luminaires on all common international electronic design platforms.

Qualitative photometric characteristics such as the shape of the luminous intensity distribution curve in its graphic representation using a polar coordinate diagram (see figure b) also provide experienced lighting designers with references on the photometric effects of a luminaire.

Combined with the product description, the technical characteristics can be retrieved as a data sheet in PDF format. Advanced product data and product characteristics can be requested via the luminaire manufacturer’s technical support on a case-by-case basis.
