Upgrading to LED – the Godeland wholesale market slashes power consumption by half

The Godeland logistics hall in Hamburg is busy throughout the day and night, and freshly harvested, juicy cherries come together with ripe tomatoes and crisp cabbage from the “Altes Land” region.

To ensure that stock turnover functions smoothly, good working and visual conditions are elemental. An LED lighting solution from TRILUX has not only significantly improved visual comfort at the location, but also demonstrated how saving energy can bear fruit.

30 employees in the giant warehouse take care of countless crates and sacks with fruit and vegetables sourced from 100 producers and suppliers from the region, and the goods are usually delivered, picked and loaded during nocturnal hours.

Quickness counts, because what's harvested in the afternoons should be presented in retail displays the next morning. A well-trained team needs good working conditions to ensure that this logistic feat is reliably carried out each and every day.

The Mirona LED highbay luminaire makes an important contribution, and its high lumen output and precise light guidance ensure that daily work is made a little easier. This

is noticed among other factors during quality checking, and workers in the hall report simpler evaluating of the goods. "The uniform illumination and warm colour rendering from the luminaires is great," said a pleased Frank Schoof, Godeland Project Manager.

Reading the delivery notes is also a lot easier.  Refurbishing the lighting solution has also improved occupational safety. "In the food industry, shatter protection is exceedingly important," informed the installer Mr. Brügmann. Glare-free light now also contributes to safe working conditions, and in view of the ceiling height of 13 metres this was no easy task.

"The higher the ceiling, the more complicated it is to sufficiently illuminate the work area," explained Ralf Brügmann from Elbe-Energie-Technik, installers of the new lighting system. Ideal lighting from high heights is ensured thanks to the narrow distribution Mirona LED.

The high-performance yet energy-efficient highbay luminaires also feature a long service life, and with especially low temperatures in the cool warehouse the robust LED luminaires ensure uniform and completely reliable light at 24,000 lumens and across 100,000 operating hours.

Working together with TRILUX, technology partner of the wholesale market, was completely direct and without problems – typically northern in fact. This is no wonder, because the TRILUX Expertise Center is just a stone's throw away from the

warehouse – a home advantage so to speak. "The short routes made many things easier," explained the installer Ralf Brügmann from Elbe-Energie-Technik.

Working together with TRILUX and the wholesale market as well as later installation of the luminaires was particularly easy as a result. TRILUX once again proves its ability to simply carry out refurbishment projects thanks to its extensive range of services and high-performance lighting concepts – in accordance with the brand slogan of ‘Simplify Your Light’.
