A new outdoor lighting concept celebrates its premier with the opening of the citizen's centre at the Arnsberg railway station in Germany, on the forecourt of the neoclassical building.

Ten white light columns from Trilux ensure not only safe light on the road and path but also confidently highlight the radiant white building. "We consciously selected a lighting solution that's discreet and doesn't catch the eye to the detriment of the architecture," explained the lighting planner Peter Brdenk from Planwerk in Essen. The light should provide support for the building appearance and should not place itself in the foreground. Special luminaires with heights of seven metres were developed together with TRILUX that blend effortlessly into the linear overall appearance because of their round form and white colour.

The flush-fitting luminaire heads ensure standard-compliant lighting of traffic zones. Below these are pan-and-tilt projector modules to atmospherically illuminate the facade of the completely refurbished building. The sites for installation of the columns were also carefully specified. If looked at from the front or side, the viewing axes oriented to the edges of the building can be identified. An appealing symbiosis of light and architecture was achieved in a cooperation between TRILUX and the lighting planner from Essen. The Old Arnsberg station has now become an attractive place for meeting.
