TRILUX Publishes Sustainability Statement

Focus on Climate Action, Circular Economy and Sustainable Product Design

Arnsberg, September 2026 – TRILUX has published its Sustainability Statement for 2025. For the first time, the statement covers the entire TRILUX Group, providing a comprehensive overview of the current status of sustainability activities across its companies and locations. The report is published on a voluntary basis and is fully aligned with the ESRS standards. It highlights the progress achieved to date while also outlining the key areas for further action.

IntuSens Renewable Electricity

Measurable Impact at Headquarters

Since January 2025, all TRILUX locations in Germany have been powered exclusively by renewable electricity. At the company’s headquarters in Arnsberg, this transition has already delivered measurable results: location-based Scope 2 emissions have been reduced by 98 percent compared with the 2020 baseline year. This represents a reduction of approximately 2,918 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents compared with the previous year. TRILUX has therefore already exceeded its target of reducing Scope 2 emissions by 50 percent by 2030.

Circular Economy

From Old Louvre Systems to New LED Profiles

One key example of TRILUX’s commitment to the circular economy is “Louvres in the Loop”, a research project launched in early 2024 in collaboration with metal processing specialist OTTO FUCHS KG. The focus is on the recycling and recovery of aluminium. This comes from old specular louvres and reflectors (post-consumer material) as well as from chips generated during operations at OTTO FUCHS (pre-consumer material). In this innovative process, the aluminium scrap is recycled without the material having to be melted down. Within the scope of the research project, a carbon footprint of less than 0.2 kg CO₂e per kilogram of aluminium was determined for the production of the aluminium briquette (screening LCA based on ISO 14040/14044, cradle-to-gate). For comparison: the informal limit for so-called "low carbon" aluminium ingots is 4 kg CO₂e per kg, and some manufacturers already achieve 0.9 kg CO₂e per kg (internal research, as of 10/2026). On a global average, primary aluminium accounts for 14.4 kg CO₂e per kg (year 2024), and aluminium produced in Europe accounts for 6.6 kg CO₂e per kg (year 2023).

Sustainable Design Rules

Sustainability Starts with Product Development

ith its Group-wide guidelines for sustainable product development – the Sustainable Design Rules – TRILUX has firmly embedded environmental sustainability into its product development processes. The guidelines apply to new product developments across the TRILUX Group and define mandatory requirements in areas including durability, disassembly, repairability and recyclability. This ensures that sustainability is considered from the earliest stages of product development and throughout the entire product life cycle.
