How lighting becomes a lever for strategic transformation

E.Leclerc Atout Sud in Rezé showcases new-generation lighting for intelligent, attractive and sustainable sales areas. With over 10,000 m² of retail space, the E.Leclerc Atout Sud centre in Rezé, the second largest shop in the south of Nantes, was not content with a simple renovation. It has embarked on an ambitious transformation in which lighting is becoming a genuine strategic lever, combining energy efficiency, modernisation and optimisation of the customer experience.

This project, carried out by TRILUX in conjunction with the EDEIS design office and Eiffage teams for the installation, places lighting at the heart of the shop's commercial strategy.

Far from standardised lighting, each area of the hypermarket has been given a different lighting treatment designed to:

  • Structuring career paths
  • Promoting business areas
  • Improving visual comfort
  • Enhancing the appeal of the site

Focus on key areas

The central aisle at is set off by 70 square Varisto lights (1470 x 1470 mm). The aim was to play with volume and depth and make the most of natural light. The "seasonal promotions" area, dedicated to special offers benefits from enhanced lighting of over 1,200 lumen, thanks to powerful suspended luminaires installed at a precise height to stand out visually from other supermarkets. The butcher's, fishmonger's, baker's and fruit and vegetable shops have been enhanced by a "market" atmosphere using E-Line DALI continuous lines and B.Veo spotlights (CRI>90), which guarantee colour fidelity and visual comfort.

Thanks to the LiveLink lighting management system combined with the DALI luminaires, the lighting can be fully controlled and adapted according to the time of day, the season, the intensity of use and the amount of natural light. This system enables lighting scenes to be managed using three predefined scenarios tailored to specific uses, helping to save energy, simplify maintenance and optimise the purchasing experience.

"This project is a perfect illustration of our vision of intelligent retail lighting: each zone meets specific requirements in terms of attractiveness, comfort and energy efficiency, while respecting the operational constraints of a large food store."

Consecutive renovation of the Espace Culturel

Despite working in a shop open to the public, the work was carried out smoothly and efficiently, to the satisfaction of the customer, who has undertaken a second phase of work to renovate the Espace Culturel. Its luminous design, divided into five management zones, plays on a palette of honey and black tones to create a deliberately more intimate atmosphere. The lighting in this space is based on a combination of E-Line continuous lines, which ensure perfect continuity and excellent uniformity, Lorino round suspended luminaires with a refined design and Canilo and Lenty accent spotlights, which are compact and adjustable to highlight certain elements. The system is DALI-controlled and combines energy efficiency, lighting precision and aesthetics.

A model for the future of intelligent retail

In this way, E.Leclerc Atout Sud is becoming a model for supermarket chains wishing to transform their points of sale into genuine commercial experiences driven by lighting.

Key figures:

  • 70 Varisto 1470×1470 mm square hangers
  • 1000 DALI B.Veo spotlights CRI>90
  • 800 DALI E-Line light units
  • 3 daily lighting scenarios via LiveLink

A project is being studied for the logistics areas (intelligent rack lighting) in 2026.
