Zaragoza, 10 July 2025 - The historic Calatayud Bullring has been given a new lease of life. The city's new Bullfighting Museum - a cultural project that unites heritage, vocational training and social inclusion, has been inaugurated in its facilities. The refurbishment was carried out by students from the "Coso Margarita" experiential learning programme, promoted by INAEM and the Calatayud City Council, with technical lighting design and equipment provided by TRILUX.

Located in Calatayud close to the ZALUX factory—part of the TRILUX Group in Alhama de Aragón—the project reflects TRILUX’s commitment to sustainable lighting solutions and local community engagement. Delivered in collaboration with the city’s Workshop School and employment access programmes, the initiative transformed part of the iconic bullring into a modern, multipurpose museum space. "This museum is the result of the work of young people in training, who have shown that heritage rehabilitation can also be a tool for social integration and cohesion", emphasises Ana Isabel García, Councillor at Calatayud Town Council.

Technical lighting with the TRILUX seal

TRILUX designed and supplied a complete lighting solution for the museum, adopting a circular economy approach, by using in stock luminaires without sacrificing quality or efficiency. The lighting covers all areas of the museum, from the entrance to the auxiliary areas, and adapts to both exhibition and functional needs.

A museum experience guided by light

The experience begins in the entrance area where a low-level recessed LED strip guides visitors along the entrance ramp, echoing a burladero, enhancing both aesthetics and safety, while, setting the narrative of the space from the very first step.

In the right-hand room an L-shaped recessed track fitted with directional Lobu LED spotlights highlights vertical surfaces such as posters and information boards. Additional recessed Lobu fittings in the ceiling support flexible usage for talks and projections.

In the room opposite, a U-shaped track with ten Lobu spotlights perfectly illuminates display cases, museum exhibits and signage. Their compact and flexible design allows for future layout changes without additional electrical work.

Amatris luminaires were chosen for the ancillary areas for their elegant finish and high colour rendering, while the robust Oleveon Fit LED was used in the technical and storage areas for its resistance to dust and humidity.

A commitment to sustainability and inclusion

The result is a museum that is aesthetically pleasing, functional and energy efficient. Beyond the technical aspect, the project symbolises how vocational training can have a direct and positive impact on the environment. Through this public-private partnership, the Bullfighting Museum of Calatayud becomes a powerful example of how culture, circular economy principles, and social inclusion can come together to enrich communities.
