Architecture, Sustainability, Brand

For TechnoAlpin Schweiz AG, the market leader in snow production, sustainability is far more than just a buzzword - it is an integral part of the company's DNA. That is why the use of ecological building materials played a central role in the new building at the Schattdorf site, alongside the conscious choice of sustainability orientated project partners.

Embedded in the impressive mountain landscape of the Uri Canton, the stylishly designed headquarters of TechnoAlpin Schweiz AG attracts immediate attention. Particularly striking is the dark façade made of carbonised wood, which forms a powerful contrast to the light coloured wooden elements and exposed concrete used inside. TRILUX’s customised sustainable lighting concept fits perfectly into this architectural interplay.

Sustainability as a guiding principle

The façade of the new headquarters is not only visually impressive, it is also reflects the sustainable construction approach taken throughout the building. The traditional Japanese wood finishing technique "Yakisugi", in which the surface of the wood is charred, makes it water-repellent, extremely durable and protects against fungal and insect infestations.

Patrizio Laudonia, Managing Director Switzerland at TechnoAlpin Schweiz AG, emphasises: "We are pioneers in sustainable snowmaking solutions. We live this responsibility and commitment in all areas. The new building was planned and realised accordingly."

Partners with the same values

In line with its sustainability principles, TechnoAlpin Schweiz AG also chose project partners committed to the same values. With TRILUX, the company found a lighting partner whose energy-efficient solutions not only reduce electricity consumption but also contribute significantly to CO₂ reduction – particularly relevant for large and complex infrastructure projects of this type.

Light as a factor of well-being and functionality

“The challenge for the lighting design was that TechnoAlpin Schweiz AG wanted to create a pleasant and functional working environment for its employees," explains Fabio Arnold, project and construction manager at GAMMA PLANUNG AG. “Thanks to detailed variant studies and sampling proposals from TRILUX, we identified the ideal solution.”

The result is impressive: Light-flooded rooms with optimum daylight and carefully planned lighting systems ensure an ergonomic working environment. In technically sensitive areas, customised lighting solutions guarantee maximum precision and reliability.

To achieve this result, LuceoS pendant luminaires and Onplana LED Downlight are used in the offices and training rooms. These luminaires provide glare-free, harmonious light that supports concentrated work, while highlighting architectural accents.

In the warehouse TRILUX installed its proven E-Line continuous line system to ensure uniform, high-quality illumination.

Making brand identity tangible in the space

Another key objective was the visual integration of brand identity. This is conveyed throughout the building by a range of design elements: the distinctive CI colour yellow appears throughout the interior and exterior spaces as a recognisable design motif.

Weather-resistant outdoor luminaires, including 8841 bollards, Faciella, Lumega IQ N and Skeo Q highlight the architecture and carry the brand message into the surrounding public space. Particularly striking are the illuminated snow cannons in front of the building – a powerful reference to the company’s core business.

The TRILUX lighting concept not only fulfils a functional requirement, but also reinforces the architectural and brand-driven impact of the new building - a successful interplay of technology, design and responsibility.
