Winterhalter is a leading global supplier of professional warewashing solutions for the catering industry. The multinational company is strengthening its presence in southern Europe with a new, highly sustainable company headquarters in Málaga, which will serve as its head office for the Spanish and Portuguese markets. The building combines technological innovation and energy efficiency with a feel-good environment for employees. We developed the lighting concept for this exciting project and delivered it as a full-service provider.
The new headquarters covers an area of 15,000 square metres and includes modern offices and communal spaces, a research and development centre, and a logistics warehouse for industrial equipment. The total investment amounts to 15 million euros, reinforcing Málaga as a strategic hub for Winterhalter's management and sales activities in Spain and Portugal.
The architecture and building technology were specifically designed around the needs of employees, creatin an inspiring and attractive working environment.
The new building features automated blinds controlled by satellite signals and light sensors. Intelligent control systems coordinate the various building services, optimise energy consumption and enhance user comfort. Winterhalter is underlining its commitment to sustainable construction by targeting BREEAM certification.
Generous, open-plan areas create space for informal collaboration and encourage creativity, reflecting the company's innovative approach. Lighting plays both a functional and a design role. It provides optimal visual conditions, supports energy efficiency and contributes to an inviting atmosphere, helping to support green building certification.
As a full-service provider, TRILUX developed a tailored lighting concept for every area, from the offices and storage zones to the outdoor spaces. All luminaires are networked via LiveLink and integrated into the building's KNX control system, enabling precise control and monitoring. The Bicult desk luminaire illuminates more than one hundred workstations, combining direct and indirect light. Users can individually adjust, save and recall brightness levels and colour temperatures for "their" Bicult via an app. In addition, all Bicult luminaires with Human Centric Lighting (HCL) provide particularly natural and comfortable lighting conditions that support well-being and concentration.
All other lighting solutions were also precisely matched to the specific requirements of each area. The focus extended beyond functionality, with lighting designed to actively improve the atmosphere of every room.
Sonnos luminaires ensure uniformity and visual comfort.
Sonnosluminaires in various sizes create a starry sky effect. B.VEO-Stromschienenstrahler highlight the products on display.
Loreto and Parelia luminaires enable different lighting moods depending on how the space is used.
A combination of Sonnos and the Finea light channel (measuring up to 22 metres) structures the space and creates a relaxed atmosphere.
Arimo Fit ensures efficient and uniform lighting.
Integrated square OLISQ luminaires offer safety with a minimalist design.
Altigo recessed luminaires and square Skeo luminaires give entrances a distinctive identity, while Lumena Plus delivers powerful, uniform lighting in the car park and warehouse.
According to Gabriel Almansa, CEO of Winterhalter Ibérica, the new building reflects the company's commitment to innovation, sustainability and its employees. “We wanted to create a space that inspires, encourages collaboration and is fit for the future," says Almansa.
