Spanish Silicon Valley
TRILUX delivers a holistic lighting concept for Alicante’s Digital District
The Alicante Digital District spans approximately 9,200 sqm and comprises four two-storey buildings in Alicante, Spain. Its state-of-the-art infrastructure attracts companies specializing in technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence. Our comprehensive lighting concept for both the indoor and outdoor spaces enhances the site's appeal and functionality. Today, over 300 tech companies call the Alicante Digital District home.
With stunning views of the sea, Santa Bárbara Castle, and Alicante’s impressive skyline, the Digital District is located on Pier 5 in the Port of Alicante. It sits at the heart of the planned Port Technology Hub, a major project. With this project, backed by the Region of Valencia to shift from traditional production models and embrace the digital economy. The district’s proximity to the region's rapidly growing digital community offers numerous strategic advantages. The location has excellent national and international connections. Madrid is only two hours away by high-speed train, and Alicante-Elche airport can be reached by car in 15 minutes, offering direct connections to major European capitals.
Sophisticated infrastructure for a digital ecosystem
The site’s four new buildings provide an ideal environment for fostering creative ideas, digital research, and innovative business models. The architecture and technology of these spaces have been meticulously tailored to meet the needs of the digital industry. In addition to collaborative spaces and private offices, there are a wide variety of rooms for events, training courses, and presentations.
There is also a large, diverse outdoor area with parking spaces, paths, green areas, and terraces. The client sought a lighting partner who could implement the entire project from a single source and meet the highest standards of lighting quality, efficiency, design, and smartness. Our solutions fit the bill perfectly, thanks to our expertise in indoor and outdoor lighting, as well as lighting control systems.
Interior lighting
stylish, smart and user-friendly
The E-Line Next linear luminaire system in stylish black takes center stage in all interior areas, providing high-quality, glare-free illumination over workstations with UGR19. Sonnos recessed luminaires light corridors, while Ambiella downlights with an IP44 protection rating are installed in the sanitary areas. The luminaires are networked with the LiveLink lighting management system and combined with daylight and presence detection sensors. Simple and flexible control of the luminaires during operation was also required to accommodate changes in tenancy or different room uses. Here, the LiveLink control system shines with its intuitive and easy-to-use interface.
The exterior lighting
as modern as the buildings themselves
The newly constructed buildings in the Alicante Digital District are small architectural jewels that also require outdoor lighting to accentuate their character and blend harmoniously into the environment with a high-quality design language. Square Skeo Q wall luminaires, in combination with Lutera recessed floor luminaires and round Invego wall luminaires have taken on this task. The outdoor staircases are illuminated by delicate Pareda Slim recessed wall luminaires, their asymmetrical beam characteristics creating atmospheric accents in the stairways. For the parking areas beneath the buildings, the focus was on functionality, efficiency, and durability. The Deveo Fit luminaires ensure optimal lighting with impressively low operating costs. All exterior lighting fixtures boast an IP66 protection rating.
Collaboration, expertise and success
The project was a major team effort, executed in collaboration with experienced partners. The lighting design for both the interior and exterior spaces was developed in partnership with GLOGESTEC Engineering (Valencia), and the solutions were installed by SOLTEC Installateur. "The Alicante Digital District shows how well our portfolio and expertise are geared to the needs of the market and highlights how important close collaboration between the various partners is to win large and challenging projects," summarizes Sergio de la Torre, Area Sales Manager at TRILUX.
