Fast workflows, reliable processes and precise work - modern logistics centres place high demands on infrastructure and working environment. This also applies to the new central warehouse of OBO Bettermann, a leading international manufacturer of installation and electrical infrastructure systems for buildings and facilities. At the centre of the lighting concept are the das E-Line Pro continuous-row lighting system and the LiveLink Premium light management system from TRILUX. Wilhelm Stübing, Head of International Logistics at OBO Bettermann and Markus Busche, Managing Director of Busche Elektrotechnik as the installation company carrying out the work, briefly present the project.
OBO Bettermann's new central warehouse is around 23,000 m² in size. It includes a small parts warehouse and an area warehouse with a hall height of approx. 9.5 metres for bulky goods. OBO Bettermann is using the new building to combine energy sustainability with optimum working conditions for the workforce. A large proportion of the electricity is generated by the company's own photovoltaic system on the premises. OBO Bettermann is also pushing ahead with digitalisation and automation through fully automated logistics processes in the new central warehouse. A high degree of efficiency, lighting quality and smartness was also required of the lighting. An additional challenge: the entire building, including the technical infrastructure, was to be erected in less than a year.
At the centre of the lighting concept is the E-Line Pro continuous-row lighting system, which impresses with its energy efficiency of up to 220 lm/W and precise beam characteristics. A total of around four kilometres of continuous-row lighting with 850 light points were installed throughout the building. Thanks to customised optics, the E-Line Pro ensures consistently high lighting quality across all warehouse areas, for example with lens optics for optimum distance and close-up vision in the high halls and with opal optics for glare-free and safe working in the small parts warehouse with narrow aisles and low ceilings. Practical: The emergency lighting could also be realised via the light strip. In addition, 1,200 m2 of office and outdoor areas were equipped with our lighting solutions.
The LiveLink Premium light management system ensures the desired smartness. All luminaires are networked with LiveLink via DALI and are also connected to sensors for daylight and presence. The luminaires, sensors and push-buttons were commissioned and configured quickly, easily and securely using the LiveLink ONE app. In addition, the networked lighting was connected to the higher-level building management system via a KNX gateway. This makes the lighting part of a networked smart building. The result is also impressive in everyday life: employees benefit from a comfortable and safe working environment, while the company benefits from low operating and maintenance costs, efficient processes and a future-proof solution.
