Emergency Light Monitoring

Automated testing and logging for emergency light with ELMo

Statutory requirements for emergency light ensure that emergency light systems are always fully operational in case of emergency. For operators, however, provisions regarding regular testing and documentation are associated with a great deal of effort – particularly with individual-battery emergency light systems.

With TRILUX Emergency Light Monitoring ELMo, individual-battery emergency light systems can be monitored conveniently with automation. The platform-based digital service reduces effort in implementing statutory function testing and documentation obligations. The result: less work, reduced costs – yet more safety and convenience.

Your benefits

Cost savings

Automated testing of the individual batteries of the emergency light system including required documentation is significantly simpler and more affordable than manual monitoring.

Legal clarity

All statutory requirements for battery monitoring are implemented – and required data and documents are stored in a legally compliant way in the cloud. They are available at all times.

User-friendly

Software with intuitive operation and a dashboard generates maximum transparency and facilitates simple process control.

What are the requirements for ELMo?

ELMo can be implemented quickly, simply and safely with the LiveLink light management system: emergency light components are identified, addressed and assigned during commissioning in parallel to the other DALI luminaires in the building using the LiveLink Install app. The only requirement: emergency light components must be equipped with their own DALI DT1 emergency light ECG. Combined ECGs which can be used to control emergency light as well as conventional luminaires are not supported.
Emergency light components are connected to LiveLink via DALI bus together with the other DALI-based devices such as luminaires, push-buttons or sensors. A separate DALI bus for the emergency light component is not required. The system is connected to the cloud via the LiveLink Install app and subsequently activated via the TRILUX ONE platform. Afterwards, users have access to the TRILUX IoT platform – and can use other digital services besides ELMo, such as Energy and Light Monitoring.

What benefits and savings does ELMo provide?

Manual testing of individual batteries in emergency light systems is associated with a great degree of effort and costs. In an office building with ca. 150 emergency lights, the statutory annual test takes roughly 1.5 days. On top of this, another day is needed to check the batteries after complete charging. This means that a total effort of roughly 2.5 days is necessary. At a daily rate of roughly € 768 per facility manager, total costs amount to € 1,920 per year.

With ELMo, these costs can be reduced significantly. Costs for ELMo are composed of a one-time installation fee as well as a graduated yearly service fee. The more luminaires monitored in total, the lower the price per individual luminaire. When monitoring 150 emergency light battery systems, savings of up to 70% are possible.

And the system does not only provide financial relief for operators – it also reduces the effort for generating, storing and archiving the reports. Thanks to cloud storage, users always have access to the latest report. Beyond that, the system with its handy dashboard and intelligent, automated reporting generates significantly more transparency.
