Tacheles, Berlin

Interior lighting in listed buildings is a complex task. The same was true at the Tacheles in Berlin. As part of a reorientation of the entire quarter, it was comprehensively redesigned and reconceptualised. The lighting design for this demanding project was carried out by the Berlin lighting design studio jack be nimble, which, together with TRILUX, developed customised, client-specific solutions. To light and showcase the rooms perfectly, the Berlin-based lighting design studio jack be nimble sought a full-service lighting partner. Not only was excellence required in terms of efficiency, lightquality and lighting design – the lighting also had to structure the spaces, guide visitors intuitively through the building and help shape the building's identity. We tackled the task with a mix of our standard portfolio and bespoke solutions from our Manufacture. At the centre of the lighting concept is the So-Tube.

Potsdamer Platz, Berlin

Berlin is sprucing itself up: to make the neighbourhood around Potsdamer Platz in Berlin Mitte more attractive and sustainable, the City of Berlin and the Potsdamer Platz companies have decided to completely redevelop the 4.3-hectare site. A central element of the new neighbourhood project is the lighting, which, in terms of lighting, conforms to the specifications of the "Lighting Concept of Berlin". The lighting concept for the new quarter was developed by the design consultancy Bartenbach in accordance with the vision of the project's lead architectural team, Behnisch Architekten.

Floating seemingly weightless above the central square of the arcades is a huge ring chandelier. The light sculpture "the Chandelier", with a diameter of eight metres, not only provides an optimally lit square. It gives the pedestrian precinct an atmospheric centre and enhances the square with its spectacular design. A special luminaire, developed specifically for the project, also provides the lighting for the remaining pedestrian zone and the adjacent and side streets. The Triple-B combines MLT-IQ optics for general illumination with narrow‑beam spotlights for zoning.

Centre at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin

The "Center am Potsdamer Platz" is right in the heart of Berlin. An iconic 40-metre-high, dynamically illuminated roof is the eye-catcher of the square. This architectural landmark is admittedly aesthetically pleasing, but its scale and the materials used make it feel distant and do not invite lingering. A special lighting concept from the Berlin lighting design studio jack be nimble provides a solution. The multi-armed TRILUX custom luminaire, consisting of spotlights and decorative elements that can be colour-synchronised with the roof colour, provides attractive zoning and thus creates orientation, which in turn enhances the square's amenity.

Frankfurt (Oder) Town hall

The origins of the town hall in Frankfurt an der Oder date back to the 13th century. As part of an architectural competition, the city administration decided to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment of the listed building. The aim was to harmoniously connect the building's different areas through appropriate lighting, while taking account of the varying architectures and usage scenarios.

The lighting concept for the historic town hall in Frankfurt (Oder) is the work of the renowned Berlin lighting design studio Konzeptlicht. It calls for luminaires that harmonise perfectly with the historic and modern areas of the building and unite them into an architectural unity with a distinctive character. Solutions from our standard portfolio, as well as bespoke items, are used – including Sonnos downlights, the Finea light channel and various Circle ring lights.
