TRILUX Lighting worked on Foster + Partners’ office fit-out at Albert Bridge House as part of the expansion of their London campus.

In a stunning Thames-side location overlooking Battersea Park, next to the historic Albert Bridge, the design of the office reflects the values of the practice with clear, flexible workspaces that support a variety of tasks. The office embraces the new LG7 (EN12464) ideals of focussing on the task, eschewing a bland uniformity of light across the entire office. The position of the desks were fixed, but supporting spaces needed to be fluid and flexible.

With the considerable amount of daylight coming through the two adjacent walls of glass, light levels were balanced by vertical illumination of the internal walls. The lighting had to be flexible to cater for video conferencing and presentations offering both cylindrical illumination for video conferencing and none-veiling reflections for the presentation mode.

The final scheme utilised the TRILUX Inplana in rows of four over the desk areas and created a differential in space by having a grid of nine slightly smaller fixtures over the conference table.

The Oktalite Quad recessed luminaire was used along a wall of cupboards, with the same fitting provided high levels of accent light over two models placed in separate corners.

The whole scheme is controlled by the new LiveLink wireless control system. This allows the occupants to select their required lighting scene from their smart phone or using push-buttons on the wall. Due to the ease of commissioning, it allows for a total change of usage in the future if required.

'The whole project was a pleasure to work on' says Helen Loomes, Business Development Director at TRILUX, ' it was a very fast process but lots of ideas were explored and I think the end result is a beautiful, simple but functional office space which does not detract from its setting.'
