Arnsberg, September 2025 - From 5 to 13 September 2025, Warstein hosted the Warsteiner International Montgolfiade (WIM), one of Europe’s largest balloon festivals. Around 500 hot-air balloons filled the skies with colour – among them a very special TRILUX balloon. The lighting specialist supported the event with a custom, barrier-free balloon that enabled people with physical disabilities to enjoy an unforgettable ride.
Since 2024, TRILUX has sponsored its own hot air balloon – with one important difference: its basket was specially developed for people with limited mobility and can be flexibly adapted. Designed to meet different needs, options include a bucket seat, a compact chair for switching between sitting and standing, or a fixed seat for wheelchair users. This makes TRILUX the only provider of barrier-free balloon rides at the WIM.
"Today my dream has finally come true. Thanks to the TRILUX balloon, I was able to enjoy this unforgettable experience despite my limitations," said one participant with emotion.
In partnership with the Alsatian association "Les Libres ballon du Bastberg", TRILUX is campaigning for barrier-free balloon flights. Founded in 1992 by three passionate Alsatian pilots and named after a hill in northern Alsace, the association has spent over 30 years making ballooning accessible to as many people as possible. The large black TRILUX balloon is flown by experienced pilots who put their heart and soul into the project. "Thank you so much for the TRILUX hot air balloon, which makes people so happy," said one of the pilots, summarising the special significance of the commitment.
At its Montgolfiade debut, the TRILUX balloon received wide recognition from visitors and organisers, who warmly welcomed the opportunity for barrier-free flights. For TRILUX, the project goes far beyond sponsorship - it is responsibility in action: "We want to open up new perspectives for people. A balloon flight is a lifelong dream for many, and we want to make this possible for everyone, regardless of physical limitations. For TRILUX, responsibility means looking beyond the core business and supporting projects that bring joy and strengthen communities," explains Lionel Witkowski, Managing Director of TRILUX France, who initiated the project.
