TRILUX award winning lighting was chosen to add a design feature to CentrEd’s hospitality areas

CentrEd at ExCeL, is a dedicated training and meeting space located close to the western entrance of London’s popular ExCeL exhibition and convention centre. Located in a prime position overlooking the Royal Victoria Dock, the centre adds to ExCeL's wide range of flexible spaces.

CentrEd pride themselves on being at the heart of what’s new and fresh, combining all the vital ingredients, and a bit extra, to deliver a complete meeting experience. In a bid to enhance their modern and fresh image, they recently underwent two refurbishment projects looking at the centre’s hospitality areas including the reception, coffee lounge and the waterfront restaurant – the focal areas for attracting new bookings.

In the early stages of the project Brian Cole, Chief Operations Officer, ExCeL London, visited the TRILUX stand at Lux Live, where he was impressed by the design elements of the products on display.

Brian, describes, “We wanted the lighting of the reception and restaurant to create a feature. We had this in mind when visiting the TRILUX stand. When we met the team they were extremely helpful and gave us some good advice. It was our opinion that the products on display were the most stylish in the event. This concreted our decision to start working with the team.”

The award winning, Polaron IQ was chosen to provide a consistent, but unique design signature throughout the facility.

In the reception area the ceiling variant with direct and indirect light emissions creates an ambient and welcoming environment, while the distinctive wall version with indirect light complements in the coffee area. The theme continues with both the wall and ceiling variants in the restaurant. The purist design of the Polaron IQ LED family offers the hospitality areas a noticeable and yet timeless look. The filigree, perfectly proportioned rings blend harmoniously into the interior design.

Brain adds, “After we purchased the lights, David Jeffery, London Specification Manager, TRILUX, contacted us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. He also helped us to calculate the light levels and the spacing between them. After we installed all of the fittings, they looked so good we decided to install more in an adjoining area, but we needed them in a hurry. David made sure we got them on time!”

Brian concludes, “With the installation of Polaron IQ our aim was to add style to the spaces and the lighting has helped us achieve our goal. Not only that, but the energy efficiency has improved and the light levels are perfect for our requirement. We frequently show potential clients and visitors around these areas, the new look and feel has definitely helped us attract new clients– they certainly provide a talking point.”
