Success all the way: for the upgrading and new construction of two production halls, KNAPP AG from Hart near Graz, Austria installed the TRILUX E-Line LED

Refurbishment of one of the halls was initially focused on, and as part of this the previously used T8 system was to be exchanged for an energy-efficient solution. "The customer expressly desired LED lighting, and so the lighting designers requested samples," recalled project supervisor Franz Seiser from TRILUX. According to the principle of "tried, tested and approved", the lighting designers specified the E-Line LED from TRILUX.

A hall with approximately 3,300 square metres and a ceiling height of 4.5 metres had to be illuminated. "For the customer it was important to achieve a homogeneous luminous efficacy, and thanks to the optimised beam angle we were also able to minimise any shadowing," explained Franz Seiser.

Shortly afterwards, the new construction of a production hall was also planned, and with a view to the very good experiences made with the E-Line LED, the lighting designers decided to once again install the continuous line system specifically designed for industrial applications. The E-Line LED was now also able to demonstrate that it ideally copes with oblique ceilings. The roof of the hall, with a length of around 100 metres

and a width of 30 metres, has a height of 4 metres on one side and 7 metres on the other. Uniform luminous intensity and light quality was however required for the complete floor, and TRILUX solved this challenge by combining narrow and wide distribution E-Line LEDs with 5,500 lumens.

The luminaires were suspended obliquely from the ceiling and now emit uniformly glare-free light. This level of homogeneity makes work processes in the hall more pleasant and safe for the global leader in warehouse automation and stock logistics software, as workers in the hall frequently change their location, for example from computer workstations to the production or stock areas.

In addition to uniformity, the 4,000 Kelvin light colour contributes to a pleasant work atmosphere. "We've received a lot of positive feedback from the employees," explained project supervisor Franz Seiser. "They see the light colour as being natural and the lack of glare was also praised several times."

From a commercial point of view the E-Line LED is also a winner, saving both time and costs. Light sources and optics are integrated into one component and are clicked into the mounting rails without tools. Existing T5 and T8 rails can continue to be used, and even with new installations only trunking and corresponding mounting hardware is needed. That certainly pays. "For the operators of industrial buildings it's

a matter of minimising lighting overheads, and this is ideally achieved with the E-Line LED - purchase costs are low, while energy efficiency with a luminous efficiency of up to 119 lumens per watt is high. The amortisation period for the luminaires is also correspondingly low," emphasised Matthias Sporer, CEO of TRILUX Austria. Added to this are typical LED benefits such as long service life and low maintenance levels.

According to hall size and illuminance levels, the E-Line LED saves an average of 50 to 60% in energy costs compared to the obsolete lighting systems, and even 70% when supplemented with light management. This makes the E-Line LED highly exemplary in terms of the protective handling of resources.
