At Light + Building 2026, TRILUX showed its driving force behind future-ready lighting solutions, with a clear focus on intelligent lighting management. In an interview, our experts Sebastian Ludwig and Ralf Busch discussed the key challenges currently facing the industry and explained how TRILUX is addressing them.
Intelligent, energy-efficient lighting systems are considered a key technology for sustainable buildings. Yet in practice, their implementation often falls short of their full potential. One of the main reasons is that users perceive modern lighting solutions as technically complex and demanding to plan and install. As a result, they often turn to seemingly simpler systems, frequently at the expense of potential energy savings and functionality.
At the same time, regulatory requirements, particularly at EU level, are becoming increasingly stringent. Energy efficiency and system connectivity are evolving into mandatory criteria. For manufacturers and planners, this means that solutions must deliver greater performance and energy efficiency without compromising ease of use.
TRILUX addresses this challenge with a clear approach: complexity should remain in the background and, as far as possible, be invisible to the user.
One example is the newly developed IntuSens sensor technology, which can be commissioned without the need for tools. It is specifically designed for projects where fast and straightforward solutions are required. At the same time, it meets high design standards and can be flexibly integrated into a wide range of architectural environments. This not only reduces installation effort but also significantly lowers the barrier to adopting intelligent lighting control. In addition, the sensor technology facilitates the implementation of smart building concepts.
At the heart of TRILUX’s lighting management strategy is the LiveLink system. It serves as a central platform that brings lighting and sensor technology together while enabling integration with other building systems. TRILUX relies on established standards such as DALI and Bluetooth, creating a solid foundation for hybrid, future-ready applications.
Of particular importance is the ability to integrate with higher-level building management systems such as KNX and BACnet. This means that lighting is no longer controlled in isolation but becomes an integral part of a holistic building concept. This level of connectivity unlocks new opportunities for automated processes, optimized energy use, and an enhanced user experience.
The solutions presented are designed to deliver not only technical improvements but also tangible economic and practical benefits. Reduced energy consumption, greater operational efficiency, and straightforward integration into existing infrastructure are making intelligent lighting management increasingly attractive.
The future of lighting will therefore not be determined by technology and regulation alone. Just as important will be how seamlessly these solutions can be integrated into the day-to-day work of planners and installers and into the everyday experience of building users.
