Preconditions

The precondition for calculations in terms of lighting is information concerning

  • room dimensions,

  • structural and installation-related limitations when it comes to positioning luminaires,

  • reflective properties of ceiling, walls and floor as well as furniture,

  • type of occupation or visual task,

  • (spatial) visual task area(s) which can be horizontal, vertical or also tilted,

  • furniture and

  • possible special requirements when it comes to the selection of lamps, luminaires and their arrangement.

With this information, lighting designers can execute lighting calculations using the required technical luminaire specifications for the respective design method.
