AIR EXHAUST LUMINAIRES

Luminaires as components of ventilation and air conditioning installations can generate sound. Ventilated luminaires (climate luminaires) are usually also components of suspended ceilings, whose sound properties in turn determine a room’s "acoustic climate" as well as sound insulation between the room and its adjacent rooms above and and to the sides of it. Luminaires with air exhausts are inevitably sources of flow noise, which is effectively reduced through aerodynamic design of air exhausts (for ventilation properties of luminaires see chapter ).

Ventilated luminaires (climate luminaires) as components of ventilation and air conditioning installations must undergo flow noise limitation measures. In the TRILUX laboratory for ventilation, climate and acoustic inspection, sound power levels and overall pressure losses in relation to air volume flow through the luminaire are measured.
