Mains switch contacts can also be strained and even damaged by high inrush currents during the moment of switching on. Some switch manufacturers therefore provide information on maximum permissible inrush currents or on the maximum capacitive load of luminaire control gear to be connected. It may be reasonable to switch large luminaire groups with multiple protective devices featuring high nominal currents.
