> Indoor lighting / General requirements / Maintenance Factor / Reference Maintenance Factors
In cases where fluorescent lamps are used and no secured estimates for determining the maintenance factor are available, the following reference maintenance factors or their reciprocal values (reference initial value factor) are recommended.
Table 3.30: Recommended reference maintenance factors
They result from calculations used to determine the maintenance factor based on reference values of lamps, luminaires and room by assuming standard installations often found in practice.
1According to EN 12193 "Light and lighting – Sports lighting", the maintenance factor is to be agreed upon between designer and owner or operator of the lighting installation before the start of planning. Where this is not the case, a (standardised) maintenance factor of 0,8 should be assumed. This is assuming that the lighting installations of many sports facilities have low annual durations of use.
