Control rooms are part of industrial work places and feature a great variety of equipment. From simple control workstations to power plant switching boards, highly diverse visual tasks are possible. The items listed in table can therefore only serve as reference points.
Control rooms
Switch boards can be found in various industries. They are discussed substantially in chapter "Lighting of industrial activities and crafts". In most cases, brightness-controlled lighting is recommended. Additional requirements include:
an appropriate incidence of light to avoid instrument needles casting shadows on dials,
or an incidence of light which intentionally creates reflections on a highly specular lacquered surface,
or an incidence of light which avoids veiling reflections, e.g. on analogue or digital dials, sight glasses etc.
