Lighting classes

Photometric lighting quality criteria depend significantly on competition level and viewing distance of the spectators. For this reason, lighting classes were defined for the different competition levels. The higher the competition level and the bigger the viewing distance of the audience, the higher the lighting class and the lighting level.

The following explanations and table support lighting class selection.

Lighting class I

Top-level competitions such as international and national competitions usually associated with large audiences and great viewing distances. Top-level training is also included in this class.

Lighting class II

Mid-level competitions such as regional or local competitions generally associated with medium audiences and medium viewing distances. Performance training is also included in this class.

Lighting class III

Simple competitions such as local or small association-level competitions, generally without audiences. General training, common physical education and leisure sports also fall into this lighting class.
